It's the end of January and I'm sowing my onions earlier than ever this year! Onions are at the center of so many of our recipes in our foodforest kitchen, and so we like to harvest at least 700 onions for the year! Onions are also a key player in our companion planting, one of the array of nature guided methods we use to control pests in the garden, being part of the larger concept of planting a biodiverse permaculture foodforest.
Onions are slow starters, so anything we can do to give them an edge on the other plants in the garden is key!
