This guide can still be used by people who are want to install Onion OS fresh with no ROMS or BIOS on it.

Tools/Items used in the video:

Onion OS : https://github.com/OnionUI/Onion Download the latest Version 4.3

*Do this before using Rufus on your stock SD card*
Make a backup copy the folders shown below to your computer somewhere
Roms location = SD Card/Roms
Bios location = SD Card/retroarch/.retroarch/system

*WARNING*
You will lose the Roms and Bios from the Stock SD card if you don't backup the ROMs and Bios folders to your computer before running rufus

*WARNING*
Recommend to NOT use the Stock SD card as it is unreliable and you will lose your Roms and Bios if you don't back them up before using Rufus. Follow backup instructions above Rufus link.


Do this before using Formatting your stock SD card
To make a backup copy the folders shown below to your computer somewhere
Roms location = SD Card/Roms
Bios location = SD Card/retroarch/.retroarch/system

if you are on a Mac, instead of using Rufus you can format your SD card with the builtin Disk Utilities:

Open Application › Utilities › Disk Utilities
From the sidebar, select the USB drive
Choose Erase from the toolbar
Set Format › MSDOS (FAT)
Set Scheme (if it exists) › Master Boot Record
Click Erase and wait for the process to finish
