This week JC and I made the long trip from the coast back out to the grawin opal fields. Unfortunately Noah was busy house sitting for his parents and was unable to make it out with us.
Nevertheless JC and I had a fantastic time mining. I made it to the claim a couple of days early got things set up and did a little bit of digging, JC shortly rolled into town in his new/old Holden rodeo (Bundaberg rum edition) and we got to work.

Our mission this trip was to connect up a new shaft Rod and Lez from the bushmen had put down for us.
It was a long hard few days of digging but we managed to break through and Jc had a lot of fun picking his way through into the mine and squeezing through a tight hole!

With that accomplished we spent some time digging for gems and managed to score a few kgs of material the majority of which rod is still sorting through but we estimate around 610k worth of opals! All in all a fantastic haul!
