With a career in the Sports Turf Industry spanning 25 years,
Simon has a wealth of knowledge and experience to share.
Simon’s early career was spent with the contracting company
D&D Curators, where he specialised in the preparation and
maintenance of bowling greens and cricket wickets among other
fine turf disciplines.
Simon has been the Turf Manager at Coopers Stadium, home
to Adelaide United Football Club, since 2015, producing what
is regarded as one of the best playing surfaces in the Australian
Soccer League.
The stadium has received multiple “Playing
Surface Of The Year” awards from both the women’s and men’s A
League. In addition, the venue hosts regular concerts, events and
different sporting codes, cementing Coopers Stadium as a multiuse
venue.
Most recently Simon oversaw and led the preparation and delivery
of the playing surface for what was the largest women’s sporting
event to date, the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Today Simon is here to talk about the preperation and experience hosting such an event.
