I think one of the hardest things that we flute players have to deal with is our third octave. When we play in the high register, our instinct is to make our embouchure smaller and to bring our teeth closer together. Because that helps us to control that upper register.

Opening Your High Register FluteTips 90
But I think when you're working on your high register, you need to fight those instincts. The more open your embouchure, the better your tone quality is going to be. When your embouchure is small, you don't have as much resonance in the tone.
It’s counterintuitive. So, it's hard to fix. But once you fix this, and become a believer, you'll never want to tighten up your embouchure again.
Believe me, it can be fun to play in your third octave. You don't have to be afraid of your high register.
Have fun!
