Dr. Margie B. Gillis, Ed.D., CALT, is the founder and president of Literacy How, Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides professional learning opportunities and coaching for educators on how best to implement evidencebased practices in the classroom. She has worked at the policy level through the Connecticut State Department of Education and has partnered with educators in other states to bring the science of reading and Structured Literacy into districts, schools and classrooms across all tiers of instruction.

On April 4, 2023, Dr. Gillis presented her lecture "Oral Language: The Core and Heart of Reading and Writing Proficiency" at The Schenck School.
