Scientists have observed a neverbeforeseen behaviour by a wild orangutan.

Rakus, a Sumatran orangutan in Indonesia, was seen selfmedicating using a paste made from plants to heal a large wound on his cheek.

Primatologist Dr Isabelle Laumer, the lead author of the research, provides insights into this unprecedented event.
