Original Xbox: Clock Capacitor Replacement

Follow
HowToWith GEO

This video will show you how to replace (or remove) the clock capacitor (1F 2.5V) in your original Xbox gaming console. The clock capacitor is a small supercapacitor that allows your Xbox to keep track of the time and date for up to 6 hours (although time can vary). As these capacitors age, they can leak and damage the mother board of your Xbox. It is recommended that you replace or just permanently remove this capacitor for all Xbox revisions from 1.0 to 1.5; Xbox revisions 1.6 and 1.6b do not have this capacitor issue. For my Xbox, I did discover that the clock capacitor did go bad and leak; this video shows how I attempted to repair some of the damage.
