Osmania University is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in India, established in 1918 by the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad. It is the first university in India to have Urdu as a medium of instruction. It has produced many eminent scholars, leaders, and personalities in various fields of arts, science, law, engineering, medicine, and social sciences. The university has a sprawling campus of 1600 acres, with 12 faculties and 53 departments.
