With 1,800 victories against enemy aircraft, the P38 Lightning fighter is one of the most effective fighters in the world in air battles. The P38 Lightning was a famous fighter during World War II, produced by Lockheed in 1937 to meet the US Air Force's request for a highaltitude fighter. Although developed for interception missions, the P38 can undertake additional missions of bombing, ground attack, photo reconnaissance, and longrange escort when equipped with two additional oil tanks under the wings.
