I flew this mission with less than 10% cowl flap open and with inlet flap completely closed. A glance every now and then and the cylinder head temp gauge showed in the green. Even after combat and boost and all. So its no drama to run closed cooling. Not sure if it did anything for power generation though. Plane looked much more streamlined with cowl and inlet flaps closed. Secondly I set the sight to 500 yards and a target wingspan of 30 feet. I did eventually get a kill from around that distance. Also: All the planes involved are on Ace mode and all have 40 to 50% fuel.
