Pain in the upper abdominal area near the bottom of the right rib cage can be a sign of liver disease.

This is especially true if it's accompanied by abdominal swelling or bloating, a condition doctors call ascites.

Persistent pain in the upperright side of your abdomen, under the rib cage, is a common symptom of liver cancer, especially if you can feel a lump or mass in the area where the pain is occurring. This could be caused by a tumor pushing against other parts of the liver or other organs.

Other symptoms of liver disorders that could accompany upper right abdominal pain could include these.

* Jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes)

* Unusually itchy skin.

* Bloodtinged vomiting.

* Frequent bruising, and severe bleeding from small cuts.

* Bouts of nausea.

* A sudden change in eating habits.

* Unexpected or unplanned weight loss.

* Cognitive difficulties like confusion, disorientation and memory lapses.

* Frequently feeling fatigued and drowsy.

* Changes in the appearance of bowel movements.

Liver diseases often don't cause symptoms until the problem is somewhat advanced. That's why it's important to talk to your doctor as soon as you start noticing the symptoms described in this video.
