Painting rocks that look realistic is a great skill to have, once mastered they can be added to any painting project.

This is a complete tutorial working on a tonal rock study, with just one colour. Learning to focus on just the tones, the darks and the lights is an important skill to have. It's the tones, the dark crevices and the highlights where the sun shines, which will give the piece a realistic feel. I take you stepbystep through the whole process, explaining everything along the way. Paint along with me, or have a go after the tutorial and see how much you have learnt and remembered.
