Painting en plein air on a beautiful late May morning at Trelissick Beach in Cornwall, UK. These were the conditions that I like the most for painting outdoors cloudy skies with sunny spells and great reflections of the clouds in the water.

My daughter joined me for the day and did some filming which was great fun!

Trelissick Gardens is a National Trust property and is situated on the Fal River which has been the focus of my plein air and studio painting for the past 8 months. The paintings, drawings and sketches documenting the area of Carrick Roads and Fal River, will all be on exhibition at Royal Cornwall Museum 23 July until 23 December 2022 for my biggest solo show so far.

Vermilion (cheap version!)

Raw Umber

Ultramarine Blue
Manganese Blue
Ivory Black

A4 size (30cm x 21cm approx) MDF (masonite in the US) panel prepared with a grey acrylic ground colour

I used artist quality turpentine and a Michael Harding oil medium to mix with the paints.
