Painting en plein air at sunset on Godrevy beach, Cornwall. I had to paint quickly, chasing the light as the sun went down.

Painting outdoors is great fun, especially when you have the beach to yourselves! The tide had just gone out so we could access the beach by climbing across the wet rocks. Not an easy task when carrying a heavy French easel and all the other equipment required.

I did as much as possible en plein air before leaving the painting to dry and completing it in the studio.
