In Pakistan, Church leaders are speaking out over the recent death sentence handed to a Christian man accused of blasphemy. Bishop Samson Shukardin president of the country's Catholic Bishop's Conference called the ruling "very, very painful." In an interview with Aid to the Church in Need, he also said many of the faithful are disappointed in the recent ruling. Earlier this week, Christians took to the streets to protest the death sentence given after the Christian man allegedly shared content on social media that was deemed insulting to Islam. Director of Outreach for Aid to the Church in Need, Ed Clancy, joins to tell us more about the alleged incident leading to the Christian man's death sentence. Clancy shares where the case stands now, whether there is any chance for an appeal and whether any foreign governments have weighed in. He explains how often a Christian is accused of blasphemy in Pakistan and what the situation is like for the faithful there.
