On the 25th anniversary of kargil vijay Diwas, we bring you a 5 part series on the complete story of kargil war. In the second part Nikhil talks about how India came to know about the Kargil invasion. Captain Saurabh Kalia, officer of the Indian Army was martyred during the Kargil War while being held as a prisoner of war by the Pakistan Army. He and five soldiers in his patrol group were captured by Pakistani troops following a gunfight at the Line of Control and tortured prior to their execution. During Indian Air Force's operation Safed Sagar, Captain Kambampati Nachiketa Rao, while carrying out an airstrike on Pakistani positions in Batalik sector during the Kargil War, he was shot down and captured on 27 May 1999 by a Pakistani Army and later returned to India.
