A tearyeyed dog sits helplessly on the sidewalk, its hind legs seemingly unable to move, the lower body swollen, and a scabbed wound on its head – the scene I witnessed the first time I encountered it. Most pedestrians hurriedly pass by, but I stopped because in that moment, I saw its eyes. The helplessness and despair in its eyes touched me. I don't know what it has been through, but what I can be sure of is that if no one saves it, it will endure silently until life fades away.
