This video provides you with a stepbystep process for calculating parenteral nutrition.

You will learn how to the estimate nutritional needs for a patient, determine the grams and volume for each macronutrient, and how to write a prescription.

Remember, parenteral nutrition is intravenous nutrition!

There are several types of parenteral nutrition like PPN, TPN, 2in1 bags, 3in1 bags, and premixed formulations.

This video just gives you the basics of figuring out the composition using macronutrients.

In future videos, I will talk about the different types, how this influences the composition, and how to determine the micronutrient composition. So subscribe and stay tuned!

*NOTE*

When discussing grams of carbohydrate per day, I say “1,400 minutes” on the audio, but the screen says “1,440”

1,440 is the correct number.
