Aspire Academy

In this video, we will be discussing the various symptoms of Parkinson's disease. Parkinson's disease is a progressive disorder of the nervous system that affects movement.

We will start by discussing the general inspection of a person with Parkinson's disease, which includes a lack of facial expression, less frequent blinking, and a typical stooped posture. We will then move on to talk about tremors, specifically the pill rolling tremor, which is a common symptom of Parkinson's disease.

Next, we will discuss bradykinesia, which is the slowness of movement. We will cover four different tests that can be performed to evaluate bradykinesia, including finger tapping, hand grip, pronation/supination, and toe tapping.

We will also touch on tone, which refers to the stiffness or rigidity of muscles in a person with Parkinson's disease. Lastly, we will observe the gait of a person with Parkinson's disease when going from sitting to standing.

By the end of this video, you will have a better understanding of the various symptoms associated with Parkinson's disease and how they can be evaluated.
