I apologize for the audio track being off a bit. I think it happened when I muted out the noisy hammer parts. I'll try to do better in the next one

In this video we will do some cylinder head prep and a few behind the scenes work on the engine that I normally don't include in build footage. That's why this one is broken into two parts, the extra footage of stuff I feel is important to your engine build. We complete the short block and get a look at the new camshaft choice for this one.

The DUCAR 212 Hemi engine build we're doing is an alternative to the 212 Predator Ghost Kart Racing engine. We'll add some performance to the DUCAR 212 Hemi and see how it stacks up against the Predator Ghost 212 HEMI in upcoming episodes.

DUCAR 212 HEMI Engine with PVL Flywheel: DYNO 2121000 $219.99

70mm Wildcat 223 Flat Top Piston Kit: Part# 340040007500K $19.99
This is the Wildcat 223 piston that will work with the Part # 8281 EC Pinnacle 3.353" Billet connecting rod in the DUCAR 212 Hemi block.
This one has valve reliefs cut to clear the valves in the 212 DUCAR Hemi head.

You'll need to choose your head gasket thickness based on the amount of quench you want for your engine. (The distance between the top of the piston and the bottom of the cylinder head)
Some guys like around .030 to .035 quench, I prefer .020 to .025 on a billet bearing rod / billet crankshaft engine build but on this one I'm probably gonna stick with .035+ due to the Hemi head design.

The camshaft I've decided to use on this build is the Mongoose 272. It has more duration than the Banzai 265 and Ghost 212's 252 camshaft as well as a bit more lift. I also considered running the Rattlesnake 252 for this build as it is very close to the 252 camshaft in the Predator Ghost 212 but ultimately went with the Mongoose 272 cam for the longer duration of 245 (more top end).

The valve springs that come on the DUCAR 212 Hemi look good (18 LB by their looks). For the camshaft break in I'll be installing stock 11LB valve springs for the initial run in. After 30 mins of run time after the new cam breaks in, the head will be pulled and I'll either use an inner spring with the stock 1112LB springs, or a new pair of 2226lb valve springs. The double spring will put the spring pressure right at 2427LBS and that's about the maximum of where I want to be for this camshaft as it's not a welded lobe cam.

The DUCAR 212 uses a Honda clone camshaft (.549.550 diameter) so it's your choice to install a cam from mild to wild.

Connecting Rod: EC Pinnacle 3.353 Forged Rod with bearing Part# 8281 $79.95

The EC Billet rod works with the 70mm Flat top Wildcat piston. The top of the 223 Wildcat piston is .016 below the deck on my block. Be sure to check yours and adjust your gasket thickness to match your chosen quench distance. Deck heights will always be different due to manufacturing so always check your piston to head relationship on every block. Most blocks with this combo will likely place the piston .015 to .017 below deck. While you could use a thin head gasket with this combination, remember this is a Hemi head so some valve reliefs cut into the top of the piston would be a good idea. The camshaft you choose will likely determine how much distance you have between the valve and the piston during overlap too.

Bore Specs: 70mm
Stroke: 55mm

‪@dirty7739‬ is also doing some great looking builds on a Tillotson 236 stroker engine with a DED billet head! He's got a lot of Predator engine builds and Drag Minibike builds on his channel as well! I'm subscribed because I like what he does and we share much of the same philosophy. Don't let anyone intimidate you into thinking you can't work on your engine. You don't need a "Professional" to build a good running engine, with some time and effort you can do this!

‪@DarkCornerGarage‬ features Custom Race Mini Bike builds. Complete chassis builds AND Performance Engine builds. Good Stuff!
