The last programme in the series examines the scale and variety of lifechanging moments that happen at the hospital, as surgeon Gill has to make the difficult decision of whether or not to operate on a cancer patient. Meanwhile in maternity, trainee midwife Janine meets expectant parents Alison and Alan, who have opted for a planned caesarean section after tragically losing their daughter the previous year. In cardiology, we meet Derek, a patient who has had to put holiday plans on hold as he awaits an operation. Catering manager Paul demonstrates the militarystyle operation behind preparing and distributing thousands of meals across the hospital.
