At the end of the 19th century, Paul CÉZANNE isolates himself in his search for the absolute in painting and draws tirelessly from the landscapes of Provence to account for his strong feelings, the only truth of the painter. While the Impressionists used small strokes, he used impasto and brought out geometric shapes, paving the way for Cubism.
