As this class begins, we are told that our denial of the Divine exists mostly without our awareness; we are not even aware of our actions that deny God. The Guides suggest then that the purpose of this class is to teach you two things, one is the realization of the Divine that may be known and experienced and two is what stands in the way of this realization.

When in the upper room, your requirements for growth are altered and reliance is shifted to the True Self as the director of your life. The reliance on the True Self is what allows for the release of control in the ways that control has been utilized. You begin to comprehend the requirements of the moment and with the True Self directing you, the higher choice becomes available. The Guides liken it to being in a flow of a river, and rather than trying to figure out how to proceed, you're receiving what you require for growth just by being alive and in the river. Your life becomes the recipient less through outline and more by agreement. So the striving and needing to get it right, falls away by default and not by effort, since you don’t have to figure out when you simply know.
