This is an overview of the role of ultrasound in management of erectile dysfunction. The talk begins with the description of the disease, its prevalence in Africa and then a discourse on the anatomy and neurophysiology. In view of changing times the causes of ED are evaluated and emphasis made on its link to CAD. The ultrasound technique ( general) is described and is not specific as that is done as per departmental protocol. The meeting ends by evaluation of the possible treatment options. The talk was to highlight the role of ultrasound in view of the rising numbers of cases of CVD and diabetes which are strongly related to ED. It is hoped that beyond this, Africa would begin to look into research of herbal remedies that are currently in use but of which no scientific evidence has been established.
