Peregrine Falcons Ready to Fledge

Follow
Birding Androscoggin

These two siblings are about 35 days (nearby Androscoggin County). They have lost nearly all of their white downy feathers and are ready to fledge. There was a third that has already fledged. While previously the parent Peregrines fed them directly, the chicks are soon feeding themselves with food the parent Peregrines leave at the scratch. There is a small morsel of food (primary food is some other available avian species) apparent around 15:03. Now that they are ready to fledge the parent Peregrines will bring them food hanging out at some nearby distance encouraging the young to leave the nest. That is likely the case with these two. However, the parent Peregrines do not appear to be nearby as when they are (as you can imagine) the chicks will quite loudly beg for food. Also evident is wing exercises around 8:40. The audio has been cut as the environment is loud (with mechanical noise), and it's fairly windy, so not much to hear.

Enjoy! And please like and subscribe :)
