Big wave surfer, Peter Mel (Santa Cruz, California) talks about his worst wipeout at Mavericks one of the world's most dangerous waves. According to Surfline.com, the first person to ever get barreled at Mav's in front of the public eye was local pro surfer, Peter Mel. In December 1994, Mel faded into a doubleup that pitched over the inside bowl, becoming the first surfer to get shacked at Mavericks and making the cover of Surfing Magazine.
