In this video lesson presentation, it will focus on the study of Philosophy and the major philosophies of education. These major philosophies can be categorized into two teaching philosophies namely, StudentCentered and TeacherCentered. Student – Centered emphasizes on training individual students while TeacherCentered focuses on what the teacher wants his/her students to learn. The philosophies that belong to StudentCentered are Existentialism, Progressivism, Constructivism and Reconstructionism. On the other hand, Essentialism, Perennialism and Behaviorism belong to Teacher Centered Philosophies. Our knowledge of these philosophies will give us a chance to examine how these schools of thought can help you define your personal educational philosophy. Developing your own educational philosophy is a key part of your journey to become an effective teacher.
