In this lesson we learn to us the idiom "hit it off" and the phrasal verb "get along" The phrasal verb "get along" is commonly used in everyday use to talk about whether people exist harmoniously with others. For instance if we say "I don't get along with him" this means that it's hard for me to live, work or exist with him harmoniously.

On the other hand the idiom "hit it off" is also very common among native English speakers in spoken English. We use this idiom when we want to express the idea that we instantly became friends with someone especially the very first time we met that person.
