Piodão is one of the 12 Historic Villages in Portugal. Arranged in an amphitheater, with the appearance of a nativity scene, this village of Piódão is located in Beira Litoral, in the middle of Serra do Açor. The complementarity between the blue of its doors and window frames with the slate of its facades, form a setting – we dare say it – unique in the world. The population that lives here and settled here from the 15th century onwards still grazes their herds, spreads the cereals in the community site near the Eira.

The Eira and the view from it, the Fonte dos Algares, the bread oven and the agricultural and grazing activities are characteristics of this village. Here, the flavors of the land are still produced, namely the chestnut liqueur and the honey brandy.
