Arlington National Cemetery

On June 14, 2024, Capt. Judith Neuffer Bruner was laid to rest in Section 83 of Arlington National Cemetery. Neuffer was a pioneering aviator in the U.S. Navy when she became the first woman to fly solo in an aircraft and the first to become a P3 pilot in the Navy. One of the first women to qualify as a naval aviator in 1973, Neuffer logged several thousands of hours piloting the P3. She was the first woman P3 aircraft commander and the first woman to pilot an aircraft through the eye of a hurricane. She retired from the Navy in 1998 after 28 years of service. She went on to serve at NASA under a variety of assignments. We honor her service. (U.S. Army video by Daryl Vaca)
