There has also been no word about Pirates of the Caribbean 6's cast, meaning that the casting process might still be in progress. If so, producers could intend to bring Butler on, but they are still in negotiations or early stages of consideration. There is also the likely chance that Butler is being completely truthful, and he has not yet been contacted by Disney about the role.

Butler is a longtime viewer of the Pirates franchise, so he would have good reason to join. Yet, between the unknown and controversial state of the upcoming reboot, the slowdeveloping Margot Robbie Pirates movie, and the controversial Depp and Heard case, the future of Jack Sparrow's movies remains in doubt. If Butler does agree to join the cast of Pirates of the Caribbean 6, the news is likely to be a while away from breaking.
