Day one of plane spotting at the beautiful airport of Zurich Kloten! With some snow on the ground and stunning weather, I had an amazing first day of spotting here! After I arrived on my Air Baltic Airbus A220 I quickly went up to the big viewingdeck on terminal B. It's a great place to spot from, despite the backlight you have at this time of the year. It offers a great view of runway 16 departures. Very quickly I already got a fantastic catch, an Oman Air Force Lockheed C130 Hercules! That was a leftover movement for the WEF which took place earlier on the week. An American 787 and a United 767 departed and a brilliant looking Canadian Global Express came past. Soon after I went on the airside tour the airport offers. This includes a stop where you are allowed out of the bus and spot some planes very close to the runway. The only downside was, nothing went from runway 16 for a while, so I had to please myself with some take off's from runway 28, which were alright! The tour continued and I could make some good shots from inside of the bus. First from a couple jets parked at Jetaviation, and then from a Qatar Airways A350 which came really close! Later I also saw the Swiss Boeing 777300ER HBJNA, the one I flew on a couple years ago. After the airside tour I nabbed a couple more shots from the viewing deck including a Delta Boeing 767400, and the first two Edelweiss A340's of the trip! They looked amazing taking off from runway 16! I also learned about the amazing departure procedure from runway 16 for westbound flights: a hard 270 degree left hand turn which takes them straight over the airport again! It's really cool to see, especially when the heavies due that! After some more heavy departures including Thai Airways, Swiss and Air Canada Boeing 777300ER's. I also filmed a Swiss A330 and the Emirates A380 put on a great show! I then switched to a very nice spot for landings on runway 14. The light of the slowly setting sun was incredible! Highlight catches were two more A340300's from Edelweiss, one from Swiss in the dark too! That ended a fantastic first day of spotting at Zurich! I hope you enjoy the video!
