Has its advantages:
Surrounding vegetation is dying back, while Eucalyptus are evergreen grow all year.
Pests die off or are less prevalent, though fungal infections are more so.
No Hydration issues
Any feed you give the freshly planted seedlings is more likely to be taken up by them and not the surrounding vegetation. Well nourished and hydrated trees are better able to fight off pests and diseases, and grow more vigorously.
