plasma toroid experimentation 3

Hey y'all,

In this video, I use a smaller coil with more turns as the inductor of the plasma toroid generator. It's worth repeating that this circuit is a classe power oscillator, or in other words, a pain in the ass to tune.

As you can see, the toroid produced by this setup is more unstable than the one with the larger radius inductor, shown in previous videos. I believe the instability is due to the smaller area of relatively uniform magnetic field that we rely on to stabilize the toroid. You also can hear how I am noting the Vpp of the gate of the mosfet during each run. That's mainly because I cannot measure the drain of my fet with my current setup so i have decided to try to find a relationship between Vpp of the gate and circuit behavior (selfionization, heating, toroid stability).

Also, I will be applying for a research fellowship with this project so I can study the circuit with more equipment, expert opinions, and highspeed cameras. Oh yeah!

I'm working on version two of this device's theory of operation right now, thanks to my friend and RF engineer, Jeff Feigin. I want it nice and polished before I show it to you guys, so trust me, the video will be worth the wait. I also know that the father of modern tesla coils, Steve Ward, has successfully created a plasma toroid setup, so search him up and subscribe to him too, for more information and beautiful footage, undoubtedly coming soon.

In the meantime, I will be posting on my community tab every so often with updates, and I am at the end of midterm season, thank God.
