Sequencing drums with Morphagene on the modular synth is a TON of fun. Been watching a ton of Mylar and Steevio videos on how they use sequential switches to create interesting drum grooves!

A Morphagene drum machine is a beautiful thing. It has a ton of options such as advancing steps in splices and the real time pitching and reversing of slices.

Instead of buying the exact same modules as they are using, I've been trying to apply the concepts to modules I do have. I had already wanted to put my Morphagene to work as a drum sampler, using some of my customcreated drum samples created from found sound recordings.

The patch is based around Morphagene play input being triggered from various gates coming from Rene, Marbles and Clock Divider/Multiplier. I'm using the Doepfer switched multiple to switch between a steady clock and a more shuffled clock. The Quad Switch is used to turn Morphagene's organize input on and off, to lock a sample or have to cycle through the drum samples. As a contrasting rhythm, Plaits provides a kick and hihat, with again the switch turning cycling through the other sounds on and off.

Mimeophon is clocked from the 4ms clock divider and adds some reverb and delays to make things bounce around. Lastly, the Instruo TsL adds a melodic/bassy line, going through the Quadra and sequenced by Rene. I'm using Marbles and Rene's fund 'add' function to add cv data on top of the melodic notes Rene is sending out. This way I can use Marble's spread knob to influence the bass line in an easy way. Now Im tempted to try and add some live vocals to this, but I don't have a second Morphagene ;)
