Today the story of Playtown continues as we archive Playtown 2. Previously the first Playtown actually released on Steam, but the developer parted ways with the publisher and thus it can no longer be found there. Luckily the developer was able to continue the project and has now released the second chapter which introduces new mascots, new puzzles and new scares.
I am happy to see that they continued using dinosaurs as the mascots as that is the most unique thing about Playtown. The look and feel is obviously inspired by games like Garten of Banban and Poppy Playtime and so its important that the game needs to stand out through a twist with their mascots. Dinosaurs are a cool method and I hope to see more dinosaurs as mascots in the future.
Some of the puzzles were fine, but there were a bit too much puzzles that focused on finding tiny items that were hidden through the rooms. Also some sections did not work well like the trampolines or the block puzzle. I like that the developer was quite ambitious with the project, but maybe playing it safer would be good for chapter 3. The game has potential and at least I am happy that we have another mascot horror franchise that actually continues their story with a chapter 2. At least the ending was very surprising and I am curious where the story will go next!
