Plein air evening painting session on the beach at Loe Bar Cornwall using a very limited palette based on the Zorn palette of Vermilion, Yellow Ochre, Ivory Black and White.

It was a very calm and fairly warm painting session as the sun was setting on one of my favourite locations for plein air work. This was very enjoyable using the limited colours in this palette. I was amazed at how quickly I could build up some atmosphere and life into this calm tranquil scene!

I was using a small 12" x 10" white canvas setup on my Jullian French box easel. I used 4 brushes for this plein air session, which were a couple of flats, a filbert and a rigger. I also used turpentine (no problem with the fumes outdoors!) and a home made stand oil and turps mix. Here's a link to the video explaining how to make this for yourself:
