포천 아트밸리는 경기도 포천시 신북면의 폐채석장을 활용하여 복합문화예술공간으로 조성한 곳입니다. 1960년대 한국에서 건설산업이 확장되면서 석재를 채굴하였던 폐채석장이었던 곳을 새롭게 복합문화공간으로 탈바꿈시킨 곳입니다. 포천아트밸리가 소재하는 경기도 포천시 신북면 기지리 일대는 봉화산과 천주산 석산이 있는데 이곳에서 채굴되는 석재는 양질의 석재로 판정되어 포천 화강암으로 불렸으며 석재로 인기가 높아 각종 주요한 국가 시설물에 사용되었는데 국회의사당, 세종문화회관, 인천국제공항 등 중요시설물과 건축물에 많이 사용되었습니다. 현재도 이 일대는 채석장 2곳이 운영되고 있는데, 채석장이 문화예술공간으로 재탄생됨으로 인해 이 일대는 지역발전과 환경을 복원하고 도시 재생사업의 성공적인 사례로 평가되고 있으며, 각종 드라마나 영화의 촬영 장소로도 각광받고 있습니다.

Pocheon Art Valley is a space of multi cultural art along with the artificial cliff and lake located in Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province, Korea. It is around 1 hour away from Seoul by car. The place had been used for quarrying stones used for various buildings since 1960. As the place was not useful as a quarry any more, the local government tried to change it to a space of multi cultural art. So it is now a famous site as a tourist place and relaxation with the wonderful scenery of cliff and lake.
