POMPEII- THE PETRIFIED PLEASURE CITY

Before watching the video, I want to give some information about Pompeii because somehow I forgot to mention the wonderful story of Pompeii in the videos. Smoke started to rise from Mount Vesuvius in August of 79 BC and exploded with a loud noise.
The people tried to flee towards the port. Those who could get on the ships began to leave the city, never to return. The people panicked and in one move they were thrown into a harbor 600 meters away on the Sarno River.
Very angry small stones, the size of large grains of sand, began to rain from the sky. Immediately after that, huge black stones loaded with gas and ash began to fall.
These last ones exploded as soon as they touched the ground, causing the first casualties. On the other hand, they were destroyed when their houses could not withstand the weight of the pumiceash pile of the volcano and collapsed.
Those who inhaled the poisonous gases from the volcano died instantly. Then, one after another, hot ashes continued to rain down on Pompeii, covering the first to die like a quilt. In a matter of hours, “Pompeii, the paradise of earth and pleasure” turned into a huge cemetery. 20,000 people disappeared in an instant.
Thus, the city entered a very long period of silence. The hot ashes that fell on Pompeii continued to rain like black snow for 3 days, and then Pompeii fell into complete silence. When the Pompeians were brought out in stone molds, they were found in whatever they were doing at the time of death.
For nearly 2000 years those magnificent villas, statues, murals, mosaics, temples and markets remained buried untouched. When archaeologists discovered the city, they even found the last day's baked bread in the oven.
