Pop Rivet Clamp

This is another homemade tool build, in a similar vein to the roller bender I made in the last video. I'm preparing for a standingseam steel roof installation project, and there were a few specific tasks last time around that I found... arduous. Long cuts, long bends, and riveting in tight spaces. I have a plan for the long cuts and I made the roller bender for the long bends, so I just needed something for rivets.

This ended up being an incredibly simple contraption. It's just a little pincher clamp with fingers to support around the area where I'll set the rivets. It is intended to hold the panels together and aligned while I drill, install a rivet, and set the rivet.

I made some little rubber pads to increase friction and protect the roof parts from the steel clamp, but they never really worked. They didn't stay put and just kind of squished around when the clamp was tightened. Luckily, though, it worked great without them and I was off to the races.

Though I had a really hard time placing the camera to get a good view of the little areas I was working in (read: I failed to), I filmed the first halfdozen or so uses of the clamp. I then went on to use it many more times on the ridge cap.

Allinall a very successful project. Look for the roofing video soon.
