There was a time when the whole of India used to wait for the news to be broadcast on Doordarshan. The news of the day was narrated in a limited time that too in a very simple manner. Then there was no need for news anchors to scream or play for half an hour through the unnecessary 15second footage to entice the audience. News then meant serving the events of the day to the audience without any personal opinion or personal point of view. The news was presented as it used to be, yet the whole country used to watch it with great fervor. By the end of the 80s, when Doordarshan reached door to door, the news readers who read the news became a part of every household. This was the period when pronunciation and presentation mattered a lot on Doordarshan. Then the parents asked the children to watch the news so that the children could understand the correct pronunciation. People became crazy about his style of speaking to his dress and look and this trend continued till the 90s.
