Once that’s handled, I head out to the field to do some vine beating and clear the way for our harvesters. The process of removing potato vines is crucial before we can dig the spuds, and it’s always a satisfying part of the day.

Just as I’m getting into the rhythm of the operation, we hit another snag—the harvester breaks down!
