This series of videos was filmed at our masterclass sessions held in 2023. We covered 4 topics over 4 weeks and each topic is split into a number of sections.
Here’s power hitting part two strength

Power is made up out of strength and speed
To improve strength we spoke about where to focus the bodyweight at impact, in the front foot for along the ground and in the back hip for in the air
To develop strength we used two overtraining drills, increasing the load onto players builds strength just like you would at the gym

We used incremental weights of 0.25kg over the handle of the bat to add weight to the bat and weighted balls of 200g and 400g. Increasing the load builds strength and the weighted balls provide excellent feedback on good contact
Player also performed standard swings with two bats, again overtraining the muscles involved but with genuine movements. This one is a great warm up for just before batting in a match
