Coast Mountain College (CMTN) is a recognized public postsecondary institution in British Columbia's northwest region. It provides various programs including field schools, trades, university credit, health, and human services. CMTN is part of the University of the Arctic network and Colleges and Institutes Canada (CiCan). The college was originally named Northwest College and later changed to Northwest Community College (NWCC), finally becoming Coast Mountain College in 2018.

Established in 1968, CMTN started with 295 students and underwent various changes over the years. Layoffs occurred in 2012 due to financial deficits, and in 2014, a new president brought a rebranding strategy and a focus on international students. Notably, the college's traditional logo was replaced.

CMTN has campuses in five British Columbia communities: Hazelton, Haida Gwaii, Prince Rupert, Smithers, and Terrace. It serves seven First Nations in the region and emphasizes Indigenous connections and cultural activities.

The college's various campuses, such as Terrace, Prince Rupert, Smithers, and Hazelton, offer a range of facilities and programs. For instance, the Freda Diesing School of Northwest Coast Art teaches traditional Indigenous art. The CMTN Foundation supports students with scholarships and bursaries.

Overall, Coast Mountain College plays a crucial role in providing education and fostering Indigenous connections in the region.
