In this video we take a look at the President Washington which is a HAM radio covering the 10 and 12Meter bands out of the box. However, just like its brother the President George 2, it can be expanded to cover the 11Meter band making this a great HF radio on AM, FM and SSB. It’s packed with features and has a new innovative cooling option to add optional extra cooling fans which are controlled by the radio with definable temperature thresholds.

We compare the Washington to the George 2 and inspect the circuit boards to see how different they are on the inside. We look at the feature differences between them and put the radio through its paces. We also compare it to the Radioddity QT80 to see how it stacks up against the competition. Is this radio good value for money and does it have all the features needed to make it a truly great offering?

** Note ** It appears that you need to add the wire internally which then gives you the password option in the menu. My radio has had some work done on it on the underside of the PCB which I didn't notice when filming which bridges these points. These are the steps to take:

1. Open the radio and add a wire as shown in the video at 11:13.
2. Enter the menu and go to Password option.
3. Enter 12345 and after pressing the rotary dial to confirm the last digit the radio will reboot.

You can then check the factory services menu and the software version should have 1.0 E with the E indicating that the radio is in expanded mode.
