Presidential Airplanes at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base Museum

Curious about the interior of Air Force One? Join me at the official museum of the US Air Force located at the Wright Patterson base near Dayton Ohio.

We take a look at these airborne command centers for one of the most powerful officials in the world. The aircraft on in the Presidential Gallery tell the story of aviation advancement. When the president is on board, they arguably become the most important aircraft in the world and adopt the call sign “Air Force One.”

We tour four of the planes including aircraft used by Presidents Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower as well as the Boeing VC137C, which was used by eight presidents Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, George H.W. Bush and Clinton. Three volunteers at the museum served on that plane, one as a pilot. Poignantly, this is the same aircraft which brought President Kennedy's body back to Washington after his assassination in Dallas.
