Sir Keir Starmer has held his first cabinet meeting as prime minister and his first news conference.

He began by hitting out at the "mess" he said his ministers had been left with by the former Conservative government, highlighting a prison service that was "broken".

He also confirmed the controversial Rwanda migration scheme was dead and buried.
