Prince and The NPG Jungle Strut/Batuka/Soul Sacrifice/Toussaint L’Overture aka The Santana Medley

April 27th 1994 at Glam Slam Minneapolis, O(+ Sonny T, Michael B, Tommy Barberella, Morris Hayes and Mayte put their foot in this medley of Santana songs. This is even more evidence of Santana's influence being far more on Prince than that lazy journalism that insists it's Hendrix. Prince, like Santana, played prettier and more melodic when playing lead.

Prince's arrangements are also on full display here. He was a master. Throughout the duration of his career except for that 1999 2001 period, he was fascinating.

The New Power Generation (the Hornheadz are gone by this point although horn lines are being played as samples), are like no other band out there. They're all monsters. Greg Phillinganes wanted to try out for the band and Prince passed on it.

Anyways, the man is going by the unpronounceable symbol at this point and he's freaking serious about it. The band looked incredible, played incredible, had new instruments that looked and sounded amazing and Mayte was so talented as a dancer.

Great times!
