Private Snafu #6: Fighting Tools (1943)

Private Snafu feels confident in the weaponry of the U.S. Army after reading a newspaper that praises them (not mentioning the U.S. Censorship Office at this point). He fails to maintain his weapons, and as such get's killed by a big racially stereotyped German soldier. I get the point; I'm sure weapons maintenance is very important; but this fails to point out that the Wehrmacht also had decent rifles ... and machine guns ... and artillery. Our German soldier character is armed only with a flick knife and handgranate and is terrified at the prospect of having any kind of gun pointed at him. This just doesn't seem to prepare your soldiers for the realities of warfare.

It does however get it's point across; it would be better if you actually saw Snafu failing to maintain his weaponry, rather than just finding out that he hasn't.
